DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY

Department of  Anaesthesia provides anaesthetic services to all types of adult cardiac surgeries, i. e Bypass, valve replacement / repair and vascular surgery. The Department also caters to the needs of Urology and minimal Invasive Surgeries. 

During the surgical procedure, anaesthesiologist is responsible for monitoring and optimising the function of the heart, in addition to providing anaesthetic and pain-relief services.

Post-operative pain relief is also taken care of by the anaesthesiologist. After cardiac surgery, patient is kept in the intensive care unit on respirator for 12-24 hours, which is managed by the anaesthesiologist and Intensiveist.

The department provides resuscitation services to the whole of the hospital.  The department also provides intensive care services (e.g. putting lines to monitor vital organ function, nutritional and respiratory care) to the medical patients admitted in emergency and MICU.
