Department of Electrophysiology:
The EP team at Vikram Hospital has the distinction of having the largest experience in the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias. In addition, cardiac resynchronization therapy for heart failure as well as implantation of ICDs is performed routinely.
The Cardiology team has at its disposal the best of equipment, the finest cardiac catheterization laboratory in the world, with a built-in CT scanner which provides 3D color rendition of the multislice image of the heart. The Cath-Detector is the largest ever, giving an image of the highest quality and coverage. This is Karnataka’s first installation, and among the first few in the country.
The 2nd Cardiac Catheterization laboratory is dedicated for EP (Electrophysiology) studies of the heart. Equipped with EP lab from St. Jude’s, USA, this state-of-the-art EP lab (also Karnataka’s first), has the ability to perform 3D mapping of the electrical activity of the heart and super-impose the same on the 3D Cardiac CT. This allows accurate diagnosis and enhances patient safety considerably during the ablation procedures.
To complete the entire gamut of Interventional Cardiology, we are well positioned to deliver the newer advances as they become available, like percutaneous aortic valve replacement.
Our Cardiac Surgeons are renowned for performing the entire gamut of heart surgeries from the new born to the elderly. They have at their disposal, a superb CTVS OT complex having the best equipment for Cardiac surgery, to ensure the highest patient safety. Fully equipped for endoscopic heart surgery, they enable minimally invasive valve replacements and other advances in minimally invasive surgeries as they become routinely available.
We have invested in the finest instrumentation sets available so that the patient gets the benefit of an excellent long-term outcome. We also have the top end ECMO machine, which can be used in the worst of heart failures to support life for days and weeks giving time for the heart to recuperate following surgeries on high risk patients who have no other options for survival.
